Legacy Football is all about creating fantasy football leagues that allow users to build their own legacy. The history of both the NFL and fantasy football are rich with legacies. From the early beginnings of fantasy football when Bill Winkenbach created the first recognized fantasy league in 1962 and the days when commissioners had to wait for the sports section in the Monday newspaper to calculate scores, fantasy football has grown tremendously.

From the first year player to the lifelong fanatic, we at Legacy Football understand that fantasy football is MUCH more than just a hobby, it's a lifestyle. By introducing Legacy Scoring, we believe to have added the perfect indicator of sustained success and measuring a team's legacy regardless of format. 
History of Legacy Football
The concept for Legacy Football was created in 2015. I was creating a new start-up dynasty league but wanted it to be different. The idea of "dynasty" needed to mean something more than just keeping players at the end of the season. I wanted the teams to be building something other than just a roster, creating a true legacy. By giving points to every accomplishment a team earns in the regular season, post season, and over the course of their careers, teams can tangibly show their level of success and therefore, their legacy.

I was also looking for something to balance out the teams and still make the draft more interesting. I become obsessed with fantasy football at my first ever draft, so I didn't want one of the biggest days of the season to feel diminished, but I also wanted teams to be able to build a roster for long-term success. That's where the keeper contract idea arrived. Teams were given a certain number of various contract types, including offensive, defensive, and rookie contracts. With offensive and defensive contracts, it allowed teams to keep players that they saw an immediate future with. Teams were still encouraged to draft rookies like a typical dynasty draft however, as drafted rookies can be kept up to three seasons using rookie contracts.  Since teams only have a certain number of contracts to use, it makes building a team more intense and the decisions much more difficult because teams will never be able to keep all of their good players.

This exact format might not be what your league is looking for, and I will never tell another league how they should run theirs. That is why with Legacy Football, your league can use these options, customize your own, or choose from our preset re-draft, dynasty or keeper options.
